Who are we?

The Palliative Care Specialty Practice Group is a network of SHPA members who provide care to people with progressive life-limiting illnesses.  The patients may be at various stages of their disease progression and the focus of their care is their quality of life, including improving symptom management.

Palliative care is a component of care in a variety of specialties, and members of this specialty practice group may practice in a specialist palliative care service or care for patients with palliative care needs within other specialities.

Pharmacist members of a specialist palliative care service may work in a range of settings, most commonly hospital consultative services or inpatient units/wards, although we may also provide care in outpatient, ambulatory or primary care settings.

Why join?

Join the Palliative Care Specialty Practice Group if you want to access our network of experts and peers through the Palliative Care Specialty Practice Group forum. You don’t need to specialise in palliative care to join the Palliative Care Specialty Practice Group.

Communities, a new purpose-built platform for Specialty Practice, is coming. Access Specialty Practice via your SHPA Dashboard (shpa.org.au/dashboard) page.
