The majority of Australians now have the choice of an electronic prescription instead of a paper prescription. Over 4.5 million electronic prescriptions and repeat prescriptions have already been generated by prescribers and community pharmacies across Australia. As hospital pharmacists you may now start coming across patients in your hospital who use electronic prescriptions when they visit their regular community pharmacy. This session is an update on the latest developments relevant to prescriptions in the community setting that your patients will be facing. The Australian Digital Health Agency’s speakers will provide you with an overview of electronic prescriptions and various options that are available to patients for accessing electronic prescriptions through their GP and community pharmacy and what that means for you when patients enter the hospital system. In this session we will explain how electronic prescription tokens work and what additional functions will soon be rolled out across Australia in the form of the Active Script List.
